School Closure Ideas

Welcome to Reception Class

We have had a very busy first half term. Our topic has been 'All about me!'

We have had lots of fun exploring our new classroom both indoors and outdoors and making new friends.

We have made 'Self Portrait', 'Family Trees'-  talking about the people who are in our family and the places we live.

We then read the story of 'The Three Little Pigs' looking at the different houses they have.

We have had a very busy half term. We have been learning about different celebrations and festivals. The celebration/ festivals we have been learning about are Halloween, Bonfire Night, Diwali, Birthdays, St Andrews Day, Advent and Christmas.
We started Letters and Sounds phase 2 phonic. . We are beginning to use our phonic knowledge in our play writing captions for our drawings and simple sentences.
In maths we have been learning to recognise some numerals of personal significance, to recognise numerals 1 to 5 and beyond, to count up to three or four objects by saying one number name for each item, to counts actions or objects which cannot be moved, to count objects to 10, and beginning to count beyond 10, to select the correct numeral to represent 1 to 5, then 1 to 10 objects and to find one more or one less from a group of up to five objects, then ten objects and making repeating patterns.

Halloween, Diwali and Bonfire night

This half term we have been looking at things that move!

We read a variety of stories about different forms of transport. We started our weekly challenges. The children have a challenge linked to the 7 areas of learning in the EYFS.

We made our role play area into a train station. We sold tickets, waited at the station and then took a ride on the train!
